MSPT's popular Five-Live event is back! This one-day event offers 5.0 hours of Continuing Education credit that will meet the required needs for Implicit Bias, Jurisprudence and Ethics, Patient Safety, and Pain Management

This event is designed specifically for Pharmacy Technicians to meet the pharmacy education requirements; however, Pharmacists are welcome to register and receive credit.

Implicit Bias Training

Description: At the end of this activity participants should be able to describe implicit bias, how it is acquired, and how it affects our beliefs about others, explain how an individual health care provider’s implicit biases could affect the quality of patient care provided and subsequent patient health outcomes, examine how implicit biases can lead to discrimination and health inequities among different patient populations and discuss strategies to identify, reflect on, and minimize implicit bias.

Jurisprudence & Ethics

Description: An overview of new regulations for the option of pharmacists to engage in “tech-check-tech. This allows pharmacy technicians to perform product verification through delegation by a pharmacists. Also, scrutiny of pharmacy continues with pharmacists performance “corresponding responsibility”. The role of pharmacy technicians to support pharmacists continues to evolve.

Patient Safety

Description: Safety if everyone's job. While many latent contributors to errors (technology, staffing, process) are in the purview of leadership, each individual can and should consider ways in which their work contributes to safe patient care. Personal practices, risk reduction strategies, and culture all can improve our environment of care.

3 – 4 p.m.

Description: By completing this program, clinicians will be able to discuss the approach to pain management in patients with acute or chronic pain. Participants in this program will also be able to discuss the mechanism and common adverse effects of agents commonly used to manage pain
