The Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (MSHP)

is a practice section of Michigan Pharmacists Association, governed by a Board of Directors and supported by a Committee structure as well as regional societies. MSHP is an affiliated chapter of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists.

The Bylaws for MSHP are included within the Chapter Manual. The manual also includes information on the Board of Directors, MSHP awards, the Committee structure and more.
MSHP presents several awards at its Annual Meeting, typically held the first Friday in November. Please visit the Awards page for additional information or to nominate a colleague.

MSHP Affiliations

MSHP is a state affiliate of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists. In addition, MSHP has four regional societies

The Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists is a state affiliate of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP). Visit the ASHP website for more information about state affiliates.

Delegates from Michigan to the ASHP House are determined through a nomination and election process. Delegates are elected to a two-year term. Terms are staggered such that two of the four positions are up for election each year. The Executive Vice President coordinates announcement and receipt of nominations. The slate of candidates is presented for discussion and approval to the MSHP Board of Directors at their November meeting. Ballots are distributed electronically in November or December to ASHP members in the State using contact information provided by ASHP. The Executive Vice President will convey names and contact information for the elected delegates to ASHP.

To submit your name to be considered as an ASHP delegate, contact Executive Vice President Ed Szandzik. Current Michigan delegates to the ASHP House are Jesse Hogue, Jessica Jones, Peggy Malovrh, and Steven Stout. For more information on the ASHP House of Delegates, please visit the ASHP website.

The MSHP Recognized Regional Societies are: Capital Area Pharmacists Association (CAPA), the Northern Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (NMSHP), the Southeastern Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (SMSHP) and the Western Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists (WMSHP).

The MSHP Organizational Affairs Committee offers this document as a resource for grant opportunities.

The Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists and MPA Public Affairs Committee developed a resource to help patients learn about the role that pharmacists play in various areas as well as resources to help other health care providers and legislators learn about how pharmacists improve patient care and reduce health care costs. Click on the links below to access the booklet for each audience, or visit the pages designated for patients or for health care providers to access each topic area as a one-page resource.
The American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) has an online collaboration tool called ASHP Connect that facilitates communication between health-system pharmacists. As an ASHP state affiliate, there is a community devoted to the Michigan Society of Health-System Pharmacists. Visit http://connect.ashp.org to access the main page of ASHP Connect. If you are an ASHP member, sign in using your e-mail address and password. If you are not an ASHP member, you will need to register as a new user. You do not need to be an ASHP member to join Connect. Once you have registered and your profile is complete, you may join various communities. To join the MSHP community, visit the directory tab and search for us by the state affiliate listings.
